Based in Denver, Colorado, The Timoney Group consists of professionals with a unique combination of technical expertise and domain knowledge in a broad range of sectors.
Brian Timoney—Principal Since the mid-1990s Brian has applied the tools of GIS and remote sensing in areas such as land development, energy exploration, defense, and environmental remediation.
Seeing the persistent disjunct between the sophistication of software designed for 'power users' and the simplistic analyses and reductive graphics used at the decision-making level, he founded The Timoney Group in January, 2005 with the mission of creating visual tools
for managers and upper-level executives that enhance information access and data exploration.
Brian has presented at conferences such as Where 2.0, Location Intelligence, and GIS In the Rockies on topics ranging from
the visualization possibilities of emerging platforms e.g. Google Earth to the burgeoning capabilities of geospatial open source software for
information delivery within the enterprise. In 2007 he was invited by Colombia's national cartographic agency to conduct
workshops and deliver a plenary presentation as part of a European Union grant to develop that country's geospatial infrastructure.
Mr. Timoney's education path has included stops at Columbia (B.A., Philosophy-Economics), Penn State (M.S. Geography),
and the US Marine Corps (Sergeant, Infantry).
He speaks fluent Spanish as well as the Philadelphian dialect of American English.
